If all the green gets a bit much then head to Reigate or Oxted for some retail therapy or head for Woldingham Station where you can be whizzing into London Bridge and London Victoria - there are three trains every hour during peak times and now the Thameslink stops at Woldingham too. The M25 is easily accessible and Gatwick is within half an hour making a last-minute getaway a breeze.

The education options are fabulous - there are great independent - Woldingham School, in particular, is a wonderful school for 11–18-year-old girls, and state schools close by, especially the very sought after Woodlea Primary school.
