Wimbledon & Wimbledon Village are areas in the London Borough of Merton, in southwest London, around 7 mi (11 km) from the city centre. The areas are famous for hosting the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. The areas are also known for their green spaces, such as Wimbledon Common, which covers 1,140 acres (460 ha) of heathland and woodland, and Cannizaro Park, which features gardens, sculptures and a historic house.
